Yom Kippur Break Fast: September 2007
Hinenu hosted Break Fast at a private home. No one had to cook, bake, or bring a single item.

Portland Timbers Game: July 2007:
We went and saw the Portland Timbers defeat the California Victory 4 to 1.
This only helped the Timbers move to the top of their division's standings. |

Chinatown Day Tripping: June 2007:
An afternoon of pure relaxation...Hinenu's took a trip down
to Old Town/Chinatown with stops at the Vegetarian House and the Portland
Chinese Gardens.

Chocolate Seder and Pizza: April 2007:
We ended Passover this year with chocolate and pizza. It was an amazing, completely chocolate adaptation of a regular seder (shortened a bit) followed by a pizza dinner.

Purim Costume Soiree: March 2007
The atrium at Neveh Shalom was transformed into something that none of us had ever seen. Even if you grew up there, you almost couldn't recognize it. In attendance were Superwoman, a stormtrooper, Tinkerbell, and or course Ester and Vashti. The food was good, the company was great, and many prizes were won!

Hamantaschen Making: March 2007
We took over the Neveh Shalom kitchen and got busy making over 250 hamantaschen. Of course we made some traditional ones: apricot, poppyseed, and prune. But, we also experimented a bit with banana, coconut, and chocolate. The results were
amazing and delicious. Many became the treats for the Purim Soiree. |

Tu b'Shevat Wetlands Restoration: February 2007
Early Superbowl Sunday morning, a dedicated group gathered at Dickenson Park in SW Portland to be the first group to break grounds on a new wetlands restoration project. In the matter of only a few hours, we planted over 300 new trees and shrubs to help start the rebuilding of the local ecosystem.

Shabbat Potluck: January 2007
Thirty young professionals gathered together to celebrate Shabbat vegetarian-style. People got to show-off their cooking skills with a plethora of savory dishes--and needless to say, there was plenty of food to go around. As people filtered out the door near midnight, murmurs of future Shabbat plans could be heard taking shape!

Chanukah and the Donut Menorah: December 2006
Over 60 people met at the Lucky Lab in northwest Portland for an evening of socializing, lighting the first-ever Portland donut menorah, and drinking quality beverages.
